Akropol's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 23 consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Fryshuset (2-22) 58-57 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 31-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Akropol outrebounded Fryshuset 37-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Greek Aspasia Kalampakou (178-93) who scored that evening 17 points and 6 rebounds and French guard Melisa Mendes (175-88, college: UTEP) supported her with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Even 18 points by power forward Andjela Hrnjez (186-96) did not help to save the game for Fryshuset. Center Jaiteh Darbo (182-95) added 12 points and 6 rebounds. Fryshuset's coach Ali Ghanim rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Akropol maintains tenth position with 1-23 record. It was Fryshuset's ninth loss in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with 22 games lost. Akropol will meet higher ranked Telge (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Fryshuset will play against Norrkoping Dolphins (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
