Regular Season Round 21: Araski AES - Al-Qazeres 66-64

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Al-Qazeres (19-2) in Vitoria-Gasteiz on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Araski AES (16-5) 66-64. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Al-Qazeres. The hosts trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 20-8 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Araski AES forced 25 Al-Qazeres turnovers. Arrate Agirre (175-93) stepped up and scored 15 points and 4 assists for the winners and American center Nicole Griffin (198-91, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 16 points. Araski AES's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American guard Tamara Taylor (178-93, college: S.Florida) with 22 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Julie Forster (185-91, college: Albany) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Araski AES maintains third place in Group A with 16-5 record having just three points less than leader Alcobendas. Al-Qazeres at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Araski AES are looking forward to face Oviedo (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al-Qazeres will play against Cortegada (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
