Regular Season Round 43: Fukushima - Niigata Albirex 88-86

Leading Niigata Albirex (26-13) recorded its thirteenth loss on the court of fifth ranked Fukushima on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Fukushima 88-86. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Niigata Albirex. Niigata Albirex trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 29-20 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 86-88 at the end of the game. Fukushima made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Le'Bryan Nash (201-92, college: Oklahoma St.) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. American swingman Wayne Arnold (193-84, college: Tennessee St.) came up with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Senegalese center Pape Faye (200-87) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Niigata Albirex in the defeat. Five Fukushima and four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Fukushima maintains fifth place with 23-14 record. Loser Niigata Albirex dropped to the second position with 13 games lost. They share it with Sendai 89ers. Fukushima will again meet at home league's second-placed Niigata Albirex in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round.
