Regular Season Round 22: Gravelines - Le Mans 61-79
Date: March 5, 2016
Very significant was Le Mans' (#5) 18-point road victory against one of their biggest challengers Gravelines-Dunkerque 79-61. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Le Mans. Gravelines-Dunkerque was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gravelines-Dunkerque to just 6 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Gravelines-Dunkerque 37-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Le Mans especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. American point guard Tywain McKee (188-86, college: Coppin St.) notched 31 points to lead the effort and the other American import Romeo Travis (201-84, college: Akron) supported him with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists by the former international swingman Pape Sy (201-88) did not help to save the game for Gravelines-Dunkerque. American point guard Tyrone Brazelton (183-86, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Higher Vision Sports) added 12 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Le Mans (15-7) moved-up to second place, which they share with Monaco and Chalon. Gravelines-Dunkerque at the other side dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Le Mans will play against Limoges CSP Elite (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gravelines-Dunkerque will play against JSF Nanterre (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
