Regular Season Round 18: Hainaut - Landes 73-63

The most shocking disappointment of round 18 in the LFB was a road defeat of 5th ranked Basket Landes (12-7) to eighth ranked Hainaut (8-10) 73-63. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Hainaut made 29-of-37 free shots (78.4 percent) during the game, while Basket Landes only scored nine points from the stripe. 25 personal fouls committed by Basket Landes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. DR Congolese power forward Pauline Akonga Nsimbo (188-82, agency: LBM Management) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American center Porsha Roberts (188-93, college: SF Austin) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Five Hainaut players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Latvian forward Gunta Basko-Melnbarde (181-80, college: Siena, agency: Josep and Nicolas) with 21 points and 8 rebounds and Julie Barennes (183-86) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Hainaut maintains eighth position with 8-10 record, which they share with Mondeville. Basket Landes at the other side dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. Hainaut is again looking forward to face higher ranked Basket Landes (#6) in Mont de Marsan in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Basket Landes will have a break next round.
