Regular Season Round 21: Estudiantes - Almeria 67-51

Date: March 5, 2016
Rather predictable result in Madrid where seventh ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (12-9) defeated 10th ranked Almeria (8-13) 67-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by ASEFA Estudiantes. Almeria was better in fourth quarter 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Almeria to just 6 points in first quarter. Center Mariana Gonzalez (187-88) stepped up and scored 9 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and point guard Rocio Torcal (172-94) chipped in 10 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was power forward Alicia Gonzalez (187-86) with 11 points and forward Maria Cueto (175-96) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. ASEFA Estudiantes moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with Plenilunio. Loser Almeria keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. ASEFA Estudiantes will face higher ranked Sant Adria (#3) in Sant Adria de Besos in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Almeria will play at home against Segle XXI (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
