Regular Season Round 17: Athinaikos - PAOK 73-65

The game between third ranked PAOK (10-7) and sixth ranked Athinaikos (9-8) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. PAOK was defeated by Athinaikos in a tough game in Athens 65-73. Athinaikos dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to PAOK's 34 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded PAOK 41-28 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Hailey Dunham (188-87, college: USC, agency: Merit Management Group) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 20 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Point guard Zoi Kechagia (170-79) contributed with 17 points and 7 assists for the winners. The former international guard Nafsika Stavridou (182-86) answered with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and guard Dimitra Telidou (170-80) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for PAOK. PAOK's coach Vassilis Maslarinos rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Athinaikos moved-up to fifth place. PAOK at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Proteas. Athinaikos are looking forward to face Ippokratis (#9) on the road in the next round. PAOK will play against Proteas (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
