Regular Season Round 24: Mark Basket - Alvik Basket 66-75

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Alvik Basket (14-10) beat 5th ranked Mark Basket (13-10) in Kinna 75-66 on Sunday. Mark Basket trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 23-13 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 66-75 at the end of the game. Alvik Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Mark Basket's 28 and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Alvik Basket forced 21 Mark Basket turnovers. It was a good game for American center Shareta Brown (185-93, college: Wayne St., MI, agency: Merit Management Group) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. The other American import guard Syessence Davis (170-93, college: Rutgers, agency: Merit Management Group) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Alvik Basket players scored in double figures. Alvik Basket's coach Francisco Pinto used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spanish forward Grace Alonso de Armino (178-92, college: Freed-Hardeman) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and international forward Elin Ljunggren (184-96) added 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Mark Basket. Alvik Basket have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Mark Basket dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Alvik Basket will face league's leader Lulea Basket on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mark Basket will play against the league's second-placed Udominate (#2) in Umea and hope to win that game.
