Regular Season Round 17: Proteas - Aris Petropolis 95-39

Bottom-ranked Aris Petropolis is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 17th consecutive match to fourth ranked Proteas (10-7) 95-39 on Sunday evening. Proteas dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Aris Petropolis' 28. Proteas forced 23 Aris Petropolis turnovers and outrebounded them 46-24 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Proteas looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Aris Petropolis' players. American guard Katie Rutan (173-90, college: Maryland) nailed 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Serbian-Cypriot Ivana Raca (190-99) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Proteas players scored in double figures. Point guard Makrinika (173) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and Katerina Marini added 11 points respectively for Aris Petropolis in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Proteas moved-up to third place, which they share with PAOK. Aris Petropolis lost their seventeenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings. Proteas will meet PAOK (#4) in the next round. Aris Petropolis will play against the league's second-placed Panathinaikos (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
