Regular Season Round 21: Estudiantes L. - Mieres BVM 75-71

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Mieres BVM (11-5) against ninth ranked Estudiantes L. (6-10) on Sunday night. Visiting Mieres BVM was defeated by Estudiantes L. in a tough game in Lugo 71-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mieres BVM. It looked good early as Mieres BVM took a 15-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Estudiantes L. took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 4 points. It was a good game for Montenegrin center Milo Vukcevic (200-96) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Roberto Abuin (190-95) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Four Estudiantes L. players scored in double figures. Estudiantes L.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Brazilian Rodrigo Goncalves (200-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds and American forward Tim Dezelski (198-90, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) added 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Mieres BVM. Estudiantes L. moved-up to eighth place in Group A-B, which they share with Chantada. Mieres BVM at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Estudiantes L.'s next round opponent will be higher ranked Ourense (#5) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mieres BVM will play against Vigren and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
