Second Stage Round 5: Soleuvre - BC Mess 79-90

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Belvaux. Third ranked BC Mess faced 4th placed Soleuvre. Guests from Mondercange (16-8) defeated host Soleuvre (5-19) 90-79. The game was mostly controlled by BC Mess. Soleuvre was better in second period 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Soleuvre 38-27 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. BC Mess looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Elijah Bonsignore (198, college: S.New Hampshire, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field). Swingman Vincent Sunnen (190-94) chipped in 23 points and 5 assists. Four BC Mess players scored in double figures. American power forward Derrick Barden (196-92, college: N.Colorado, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import guard Jordan Downing (196-92, college: Presbyterian) added 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for the hosts. Newly promoted BC Mess maintains third place in League with 16-8 record having just five point less than leader Residence. Loser Soleuvre keeps the fourth position with 19 games lost. BC Mess will face league's second-placed Contern in Luxembourg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Soleuvre will play at home against Grengewald and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
