The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Sparta's (7-16) road loss to fifth ranked Basket Esch (11-12) 77-118 on Sunday. The game without a history. Basket Esch led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Basket Esch shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Sparta's players. The best player for the winners was American swingman Zeke Upshaw (198-91, college: Hofstra) who scored 28 points and 8 rebounds. Serbian-Hungarian Momcilo Latinovic (198-89, college: N.Mexico Highlands, agency: Mansfield and Associates) chipped in 27 points and 4 assists. The former international Dean Gindt (201-91) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Gary Johnson (198-91, college: Albany) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Four Basket Esch and five Sparta players scored in double figures. Sparta's coach Philippe Giberti already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Basket Esch maintains fifth place in League with 11-12 record. Loser Sparta keeps the sixth position with 16 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
