The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked CASLA (25-19) in Almagra on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Instituto C. (20-23) 93-87. CASLA was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. American swingman J.R. Giddens (196-85, college: N.Mexico) stepped up and scored 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Hakeem Rollins (201-83, college: Washington, agency: DTMones) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side the former international Marcos Mata (201-86) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Five Instituto C. and four CASLA players scored in double figures. Instituto C. moved-up to seventh place. CASLA at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still keeps top position with 19 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
