Regular Season Round 31: Cocodrilos - Bucaneros 83-86

Important game to mention about took place in Caracas. Second ranked Bucaneros (17-9) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed Cocodrilos (15-10) 86-83 in the fight for the second place. Cocodrilos cut a 13-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. Bucaneros players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard John Cox (194-81, college: USF, agency: Pensack Sports) who led the winners and scored 27 points and 4 assists. The former international guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) accounted for 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the other American import guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington) added 27 points and 5 assists respectively for Cocodrilos in the defeat. Bucaneros maintains second place with 17-9 record having four points less than leader Marinos. Cocodrilos at the other side keep the third position with ten games lost. Bucaneros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cocodrilos will play again on the road against the league's second-placed Bucaneros in La Guaira and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
