Regular Season Round 19: Jolly JBS - Kvarner 2010 70-66

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Kvarner (12-5) against ninth ranked Jolly (7-11) on Tuesday night. Visiting Kvarner was defeated by Jolly in a tough game in Sibenik 66-70. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-8. But Kvarner won second period 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Jolly won last quarter 21-19. They made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Jolly had a 28-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kvarner was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for naturalized Bosnian power forward Jozo Brkic (211-86, agency: PEPI SPORT) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Josip Gulam (188-95) helped adding 19 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). At the losing side point guard Mauro Veljacic (183-93) responded with 20 points and 4 steals and forward Sime Olivari (200-90) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Kvarner players scored in double figures. Kvarner's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Jolly maintains ninth place with 7-11 record. Kvarner lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the second position with five games lost. They share it with KK Split. Jolly's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sibenik to the arena GKK Sibenik.
