Regular Season Round 26: Paulistano - S.Jose/Unimed 89-77

Very predictable result in Sao Paolo where fifth ranked Paulistano (16-7) beat 11th ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (7-17) 89-77 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-77. Paulistano made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Paulistano outrebounded Sao Jose/Vinac 37-18 including a 23-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Arthur Pecos (183-95) chipped in 10 points and 7 assists. American guard Scott Rodgers (191-87, college: Drexel, agency: DTMones) produced 16 points and 4 assists and forward Cesar Araujo (201-81) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Paulistano moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Mogi. Sao Jose/Vinac lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Paulistano will face Mogi (#5) in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round. Sao Jose/Vinac will play on the road against Liga Sorocaba (#14) in Sorocabana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
