Very expected game in Gorzow Wlkp. where 10th ranked AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (5-16) was defeated by third ranked Polkowice (16-5) 67-62 on Wednesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski won fourth quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Polkowice made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski turnovers. The best player for the winners was American power forward Nikki Greene (193-90, college: Penn St.) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Corin Adams (174-88, college: Morgan St.) chipped in 15 points. Polkowice's coach Vadim Czeczuro allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Kelley Cain (198-89, college: Tennessee) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Canadian swingman Cassandra Brown (183-92, college: Portland) added 18 points respectively. Polkowice have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 16-5 record having just two points less than leader Wisla Krakow, which they share with Sleza Wroclaw. Loser AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with MKK Siedlce. Polkowice will meet at home Widzew (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski will play against Energa Torun and hope to secure a win.
