Regular Season Round 32: Kouvot - Kauhajoki 77-78

The most exciting game of round 32 in the Korisliiga took place in Kouvola. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Kouvot (18-14) to second ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (19-12) 78-77 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kouvot. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 24-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. International Mikko Koivisto (194-87, college: NC-Greensboro) saved the victory by scoring 24 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Bosnian guard Bojan Sarcevic (190-88) contributed with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Kauhajoen Karhu's coach Sami Toivianen used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Ilari Seppala (188-93, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 15 points and 5 assists and American forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St.) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Kouvot. Five Kouvot players scored in double figures. Kauhajoen Karhu maintains second position with 19-12 record having nine points less than leader Kataja Basket. Kouvot at the other side keeps the third place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Bisons Loimaa. Kauhajoen Karhu are looking forward to face Tampereen Pyrinto (#5) at home in the next round. Kouvot will play against BC Nokia and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
