Regular Season Round 28: UU-Korihait - HoNsU Basket 107-75
Date: March 11, 2016
Not a big story in a game in Uusikaupunki where 6th ranked HoNsU Basket (10-17) was rolled over by first ranked UU-Korihait (22-5) 107-75 on Friday. The game without a history. UU-Korihait led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to HoNsU Basket's 40. It was a great shooting night for UU-Korihait especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Marcus Van (201-87, college: Cent.Michigan) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import forward James Crowder (198-86, college: Pfeiffer) who added 20 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Crowder is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four UU-Korihait players scored in double figures. At the losing side Bahamas forward Winslo Barry (208-90, college: Incarnate Word) responded with 9 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Jermaine Watson (193-81, college: Boston Coll.) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. UU-Korihait maintains first position in Division with 22-5 record. Loser HoNsU Basket keeps the sixth place with 17 games lost. UU-Korihait will face Jarvenpaa (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. HoNsU Basket will play against Oulun NMKY and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
