Regular Season Round 15: Moutahed - Al Riyadi 75-96

An interesting game for Al Riyadi (11-2) which played road game in Tripoli against 3rd placed Al Moutahed (8-6). First ranked Al Riyadi had an easy win 96-75. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al Moutahed. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Al Moutahed's 30 and made 24-of-30 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Al Moutahed only scored six points from the stripe. Al Riyadi players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Al Moutahed was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Fadi Khatib (199-79) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Chris Daniels (212-84, college: Texas A&M-CC) helped adding 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. The best for the losing side was American guard Michael Taylor (186-86, college: Iowa St.) with 24 points and 6 assists and the former international power forward Charles Tabet (205-87, college: S.Alabama) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 17 rebounds. Al Moutahed's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-2 record. Al Moutahed at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Al Riyadi will play against Champville (#8) in Dik El Mehdi in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al Moutahed will play on the road against Sagesse (#7) in Beirut and hopes to get back on the winning track.
