The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked CASLA (25-20) in Almagra on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked Argentino (17-23) 77-70. CASLA was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a good game for swingman Emiliano Basabe (193-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Franco Balbi (185-89) contributed with 6 points and 9 assists for the winners. The former international Marcos Mata (201-86) answered with 19 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for CASLA. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. CASLA's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Argentino have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain ninth place with 17-23 record. CASLA lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team still keeps top position with 20 games lost. Argentino will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. CASLA will play again at home against Argentino and is hoping to win this game.
