Regular Season Round 23: Gernika - Conquero 80-65

The game between second ranked Conquero (18-5) and sixth ranked Gernika (13-10) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Conquero was defeated by Gernika in Gernika 80-65. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Conquero. The game without a history. Gernika led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great evening for American point guard Adrianne Ross (173-84, college: TCU, agency: Regeneracom Sports) who led her team to a victory scoring 21 points. Romanian forward Claudia Pop (182-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) helped adding 19 points. Four Gernika players scored in double figures. Gernika's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Talia Caldwell (188-91, college: California) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Haley Peters (190-92, college: Duke) scored 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Gernika maintains sixth place with 13-10 record. Conquero at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Gernika are looking forward to face Gipuzkoa UPV (#10) in San Sebastian in the next round. Conquero will play at home against Azkoitia (#14) and is hoping to win this game.
