Regular Season Round 20: Gorica - KK Split 78-80

Fifth-ranked Gorica (8-10) gave a tough game to second ranked KK Split (13-5) in Velika Gorica on Saturday. The visitors from Split managed to secure only two-point victory 80-78. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 26-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Goran Filipovic (180-96) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and forward Henrik Sirko (201-93, agency: XL Basketball Agency) who added 11 points and 8 assists during the contest. KK Split's coach Ivica Skelin used entire bench in such tough game. Guard Marko Petrovic (192-91, college: USF) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and Bosnian forward Ante Masic (200-85, agency: Global Sports Plaza) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. KK Split have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 13-5 record having just three points less than leader KK Zagreb. Gorica at the other side dropped to the sixth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Alkar Sinj. KK Split are looking forward to face league's leader KK Zagreb on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gorica will play against Alkar Sinj (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
