Very important is a home loss of third ranked Kvarner (12-6) against tenth ranked KK Zabok (7-11) on Saturday night. Host Kvarner was defeated by KK Zabok in a tough game in Rijeka 76-83. Kvarner was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 27-12 third quarter run of KK Zabok. KK Zabok dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kvarner's 28 and made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. KK Zabok forced 20 Kvarner turnovers and outrebounded them 31-18 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by power forward Domagoj Vukovic (208-93) who scored that evening 20 points and 5 rebounds and center Markus Loncar (213-96) supported him with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Four KK Zabok players scored in double figures. Even 25 points and 4 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) by guard Paolo Marinelli (191-95) did not help to save the game for Kvarner. Forward Petar Maric (196-87, agency: PEPI SPORT) added 11 points and 4 assists for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KK Zabok moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Osijek. Kvarner lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the third position with six games lost. KK Zabok will play against higher ranked GKK Sibenik (#4) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Kvarner will play against Vrijednosnice OS in Osijek and hopes to get back on the winning track.
