Regular Season Round 25: Lulea Basket - Alvik Basket 77-79

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Lulea Basket (21-4) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Alvik Basket (15-10) 79-77. Lulea Basket was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 27-20 charge of Alvik Basket, which allowed them to win the game. They made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. American guard Syessence Davis (170-93, college: Rutgers, agency: Merit Management Group) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and her fellow American import center Shareta Brown (185-93, college: Wayne St., MI, agency: Merit Management Group) chipped in 28 points and 4 steals. Alvik Basket's coach Francisco Pinto used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side the former international power forward Anna Barthold (185-80, college: St.Peter's) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and international forward Allis Nystrom (184-93) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Alvik Basket have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 15-10 record. Lulea Basket lost third consecutive game. Defending champion still keeps top position with four games lost. Alvik Basket are looking forward to face higher ranked Sallen (#3) in Uppsala in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lulea Basket will play on the road against Fryshuset in Stockholm and is hoping to win this game.
