Regular Season Round 22: Empoli - La Spezia 56-78

Serie A2 top team - La Spezia (22-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Empoli (11-11) 78-56. The game was mostly controlled by La Spezia. Empoli was better in second period 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. La Spezia forced 26 Empoli turnovers. Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 17 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Elisabetta Linguaglossa (184-87) chipped in 18 points during the contest. At the losing side Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and guard Francesca Rosellini (176-90) scored 12 points. La Spezia have an impressive 21-game winning streak. Newly promoted La Spezia maintains first position with 22-0 record. Empoli at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Stabia and Pordenone. La Spezia will play against San Pietro (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Empoli will play against Ancona and hopes to get back on the winning track.
