Second Stage Round 6: Contern - BC Mess 77-66

Date: March 13, 2016
An interesting game for Contern (8-17) which hosted in Luxembourg one of their biggest challengers BC Mess (16-9). Second ranked Contern managed to get a 11-point victory 77-66. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BC Mess. It looked good early as BC Mess took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Contern had a 22-15 second period charge getting the lead and BC Mess was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-77. Contern dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to BC Mess' 26. American forward Kenny Williams (201-86, college: Angelo St.) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Ravern Johnson (200-88, college: Mississippi St., agency: HMS) chipped in 22 points and 5 steals during the contest. Four Contern players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Slovenian power forward Marko Vranjkovic (204-90) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and American swingman Elijah Bonsignore (198, college: S.New Hampshire, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Contern have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-17 record having just two points less than leader Arantia. Newly promoted BC Mess keeps the third place with nine games lost. Contern will play against Heffingen (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. BC Mess will play against the league's second-placed Bascharage in Kaerjeng and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
