Regular Season Round 22: Milano - Carugate 66-54

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Milano (15-7) won against at home 11th ranked Carugate (8-14) 66-54 on Sunday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Milano dominated on the defensive end, holding Carugate to just 7 points in third quarter. It was a very good performance for forward Giulia Maffenini (175-92) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 steals. Point guard Federica Pozzecco (172-93) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Milano's coach Franz Pinotti allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international forward Manuela Zanon (187-80) replied with 10 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Claudia Colli (178-96) added 11 points in the effort for Carugate. Four Carugate players scored in double figures. Milano have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Vicenza and San Pietro. Loser Carugate dropped to the tenth position with 14 games lost. Milano will face Virtus Cagliari (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Carugate will play against Costa Masnaga (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
