Regular Season Round 23: Maccabi T-A - Ironi Nes-Ziona 83-59
Date: March 13, 2016
No shocking result in a game in Tel-Aviv where second ranked Maccabi T-A (16-7) smashed 11th ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (7-16) 83-59 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi T-A. Ironi Nes-Ziona managed to win third quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ironi Nes-Ziona to just 6 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Ironi Nes-Ziona 41-23 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for naturalized American swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points. American forward Brian Randle (203-85) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. International point guard Yuval Naimy (188-85) responded with 15 points and 9 assists and American forward Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo) scored 11 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maccabi T-A maintains second place with 16-7 record behind leader Hapoel J-M. Ironi Nes-Ziona lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. They share it with Maccabi K/G. Maccabi T-A will meet league's leader Hapoel Jerusalem on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play against Maccabi Haifa (#3) and hope to secure a win.
