Regular Season Round 22: Oviedo - Araski AES 44-73

Date: March 13, 2016
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Araski AES (17-5) smashed on the road 12th ranked Oviedo (4-18) 73-44 on Sunday. The game without a history. Araski AES led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oviedo to just 6 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Oviedo 43-23 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. American-Nigerian swingman Kathleen Iwuoha (180-93, college: CS Fullerton) fired 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American center Nicole Griffin (198-91, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Five Araski AES players scored in double figures. Center Carolina Ramos (190-93) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and Tamara Labra Garcia (171-94) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Araski AES maintains third position in Group A with 17-5 record having just three points less than leader Alcobendas. Loser Oviedo keeps the twelfth place with 18 games lost. Araski AES will face ADBA (#14) in Aviles in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Oviedo will play on the road against Cortegada in Vilagarcia Arousa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
