There was no surprise in S'Arenal where 13th ranked Barcelona (4-18) was defeated by ninth ranked IF Air Europa (11-11) 62-47 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by IF Air Europa. Barcelona was better in second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. IF Air Europa dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Barcelona's 28. They outrebounded Barcelona 48-20 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Serbian power forward Nina Djokovic (184-87, college: Bethel, TN) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American center Kelsey Simon (188-92, college: Miami, OH) chipped in 8 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Ana Alonso (187-90) produced 8 points and 6 rebounds and forward Maria Moreno (181-84) added 10 points respectively for lost side. Barcelona's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. IF Air Europa moved-up to eighth place in Group B, which they share with Picken Claret. Newly promoted Barcelona keeps the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. IF Air Europa will face higher ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (#7) in Madrid in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Barcelona will play at home against Andratx (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
