Regular Season Round 23: Maccabi Rishon - Hapoel Eilat 78-79

The most exciting game of round 23 in the Winner League took place in Rishon Le-Zion. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 5th ranked Maccabi Rishon (12-11) to eighth ranked Hapoel Eilat (11-12) 79-78 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Maccabi Rishon. Maccabi Rishon was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 21-19 charge of Hapoel Eilat, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Afik Nissim (185-81, agency: Avi Zilberman) who scored 20 points and 5 assists. Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. American power forward Darryl Monroe (201-86, college: George Mason) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import point guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona) added 22 points respectively for the hosts. Five Hapoel Eilat and four Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. Hapoel Eilat moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Maccabi Ashdod. Maccabi Rishon at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. Hapoel Eilat is looking forward to face higher ranked Ironi Nahariya (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Rishon will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv and is hoping to win this game.
