There was no surprise when 12th ranked Roma S.Azzurra (9-16) was edged on the road by fifth ranked Palermo (17-8) 73-70 on Sunday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Palermo made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Roma S.Azzurra outrebounded Palermo 39-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Roma S.Azzurra was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Daniele Merletto (175-93) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists for the winners. Forward Riccardo Antonelli (203-88) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Palermo players scored in double figures. Montenegrin forward Todor Radonjic (200-97) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and center Tommaso Guariglia (206-97) added 8 points and 15 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Palermo. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Roma S.Azzurra lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Palermo will face Roma Luiss (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
