Regular Season Round 23: FIATC Joventut - FC Barcelona 59-85
Date: March 13, 2016
There was no surprise in Badalona where 11th ranked FIATC Joventut (9-14) was crushed by second ranked FC Barcelona (21-2) 85-59 on Sunday. The game without a history. FC Barcelona led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. FC Barcelona had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Justin Doellman (205-85, college: Xavier, agency: Beo Basket) who scored 21 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Alberto Abalde (200-95) produced 14 points and the former international swingman Sergi Vidal (198-81) added 6 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. FC Barcelona have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Valencia. Loser FIATC Joventut dropped to the twelfth place with 14 games lost. FC Barcelona will face UCAM Murcia (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. FIATC Joventut will play against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#6) in Madrid and hope to win that game.
