There was no surprise when 11th ranked Aiolos Trikallon (7-15) was defeated at home by second ranked Panathinaikos (21-1) 98-81 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Panathinaikos. Aiolos Trikallon was better in fourth quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Panathinaikos forced 20 Aiolos Trikallon turnovers and outrebounded them 35-24 including 20 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international forward Vladimir Jankovic (202-90, agency: Octagon Europe) fired 19 points and 4 steals for the winners. American James Gist (206-86) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Panathinaikos' coach Aleksandar Djordjevic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. British Ovie Soko (201-91, college: Duquesne) produced 25 points and 8 rebounds and American Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) added 20 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Aiolos Trikallon players scored in double figures. Panathinaikos have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Olympiacos. Aiolos Trikallon at the other side keeps the eleventh place with 15 games lost. Panathinaikos will face Koroivos (#12) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Aiolos Trikallon will play against Arkadikos in Arkadia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
