Regular Season Round 27: Mogi - Paulistano 80-83

Important game to mention about took place in Mogi das Cruzes. Sixth ranked Paulistano (17-8) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Mogi (16-8) 83-80 in the fight for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Mogi. After very bad start, Mogi stormed back in the second period cutting the deficit to 2 points 42-40. But it was not enough and Paulistano took back the control in second half. They made 22-of-24 charity shots (91.7 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Valtinho Silva (187-77) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The former international Luis Felipe Gruber (206-85) helped adding 19 points. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) with 22 points and power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) scored 13 points. Paulistano moved-up to fifth place. Mogi at the other side dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Paulistano will play against league's second-placed Paschoalotto/Bauru on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mogi will play against Macae (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
