Regular Season Round 24: Conquero - Azkoitia 78-68

No shocking result in a game in Huelva where second ranked Conquero (19-5) defeated bottom-ranked Azkoitia (2-22) 78-68 on Friday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Haley Peters (190-92, college: Duke) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Roso Buch (179-92) chipped in 21 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian swingman Marina Markovic (185-91) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Russian power forward Mariya Davydova (190-93, college: FIU) added 12 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Conquero maintains second position with 19-5 record having four points less than leader Avenida. Newly promoted Azkoitia stay dead last with 22 lost games. Conquero will face Gran Canaria (#13) in Las Palmas in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Azkoitia will play at home against Gernika and hope to win that game.
