The game between third ranked Rapla (16-10) and 8th ranked Valga (9-14) in Rapla on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Rapla beat guests from Valga 83-65. The game was mostly controlled by Rapla. Valga managed to win third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Valga's 34. They outrebounded Valga 47-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. American forward Maurice Kemp (203-91, college: E.Carolina) notched a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and Dutch center Thomas van der Mars (208-90, college: Portland) supported him with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Rapla's coach Aivar Kuusmaa used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 19 points and 8 rebounds by Latvian center Jurijs Aleksejevs (202-85) did not help to save the game for Valga. The former international point guard Kristo Saage (187-85) added 19 points for the guests. Rapla maintains third position with 16-10 record having just four point less than leader TU/Rock. Loser Valga keeps the eighth place with 14 games lost. Rapla will meet BC Rakvere (#6) on the road in the next round. Valga will play against the league's second-placed TLU/Kalev in Tallinn and hope to secure a win.
