Regular Season Round 27: Maurienne - La Rochelle 81-69

Very expected game when 15th ranked La Rochelle (11-16) lost to third ranked Aix-Maurienne (18-9) in Aix-les-Bains 69-81 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-69. Aix-Maurienne outrebounded La Rochelle 36-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. La Rochelle was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for naturalized Algerian Karim Atamna (196-80) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 6 assists. Power forward Patrick Clerence (203-88) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward William Walker (200-87, college: Bethel, IN, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 10 points and 9 rebounds and guard Faycal Sahraoui (186-79) added 15 points in the effort for La Rochelle. La Rochelle's coach Gregory Thielin tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aix-Maurienne moved-up to second place. La Rochelle lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. Aix-Maurienne will face league's leader ADA Blois on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. La Rochelle will play against CFBB (#18) and hope to win that game.
