Regular Season Round 23: Brindisi - Ferrara 42-74

Date: March 19, 2016
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Brindisi (4-19) was rolled over at home by second ranked Ferrara (20-3) 74-42 on Saturday. The game without a history. Ferrara led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Brindisi's 24. Ferrara forced 29 Brindisi turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ferrara made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for power forward Giulia Rulli (185-91) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points. Argentinian swingman Macarena Rosset (178-91, agency: Players Group) helped adding 11 points and 4 assists. Forward Francesca Tolardo (170-95) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and the former international swingman Valentina Siccardi (182-82) scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ferrara maintains second place in A2 with 20-3 record having five points less than leader Broni. Newly promoted Brindisi dropped to the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. Ferrara will face Salerno (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brindisi will play against Castellammare in Stabia and hope to win that game.
