Regular Season Round 23: Orchies - Boulazac 86-84

Bottom-ranked Orchesien BC managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time they edged eighth-ranked Boulazac Basket in Orchies 86-84. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-17. But Boulazac Basket won fourth quarter 27-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Boulazac Basket outrebounded Orchesien BC 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Swingman Anthony Smith (195-86, college: Liberty) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 4 assists. Swingman Jared Newson (205-84, college: Tenn-Martin) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Point guard Tweety Carter (180-86, college: Baylor) answered with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Franklin Hassell (203-88, college: ODU, agency: Inception Sports) added 12 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Boulazac Basket. Five Boulazac Basket players scored in double figures. Orchesien BC maintains eighteenth place with 6-17 record. Boulazac Basket at the other side keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Nantes and Vichy Clermont. Orchesien BC will play against higher ranked Saint-Quentin (#11) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Boulazac Basket will play against Denain Voltaire and hopes to get back on the winning track.
