Regular Season Round 23: GDKO Bizkaia - Badajoz 71-63

Very predictable result when second ranked GDKO Bizkaia (19-4) won against 11th ranked Badajoz BF (7-16) in Galdakao 71-63 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But Badajoz BF won second period 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. GDKO Bizkaia dominated on the defensive end, holding Badajoz BF to just 6 points in third quarter. They also forced 26 Badajoz BF turnovers. GDKO Bizkaia looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American Margaret Roundtree (183-88, college: Gardner-Webb) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Pamela Moral (175-82) contributed with 16 points and 4 steals for the winners. Roundtree is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. GDKO Bizkaia's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Brazilian-Portuguese forward Larisse Lima (185-88) answered with 22 points and 7 rebounds and Hungarian center Viktoria Vincze (189-87) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Badajoz BF. The victory was the third consecutive win for GDKO Bizkaia. They maintain second place in Group A with 19-4 record having just two points less than leader Alcobendas. Badajoz BF lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. GDKO Bizkaia will face Real Celta Vigo (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Badajoz BF will play against Araski AES and hope to win that game.
