Regular Season Round 23: Cambados - Lucentum 66-76

Very expected game when 12th ranked Cambados (8-15) lost at home to sixth ranked Meridiano Alicante (13-10) 76-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Meridiano Alicante. Cambados was better in third quarter 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Meridiano Alicante forced 19 Cambados turnovers. Strangely Cambados outrebounded Meridiano Alicante 38-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. Point guard Adrian Fuentes (183-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 11 points and 6 assists. American guard Adrian Bowie (189-89, college: Maryland, agency: HMS) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Cape Verdean-Portuguese forward Joel Almeida (195-85, college: Brockport St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and Georgian center Shota Gelazonia (205-94) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Cambados. Four Cambados players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Meridiano Alicante moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Granada and Moron. Cambados lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Meridiano Alicante will face Blancos de Rueda (#11) in Valladolid in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cambados will play on the road against CB Tarragona 2017 and hope to win that game.
