Regular Season Round 36: Guaros - Guaiqueries 79-68

Date: March 19, 2016
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Barquisimeto. Second ranked Guaros faced 3rd ranked Guaiqueries. Host Guaros (15-9) defeated guests from Porlamar (15-15) 79-68. It looked good early as Guaiqueries took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Guaros had a 19-13 second period charge getting the lead and Guaiqueries were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-79. 24 personal fouls committed by Guaiqueries helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by American guard Tyshawn Taylor (191-90, college: Kansas) who scored that evening 22 points and 4 assists and international center Windi Graterol (204-86, agency: Pro Sports) supported him with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Guaros players scored in double figures. Even 19 points by the former international guard Michael Flores (192-85) did not help to save the game for Guaiqueries. Guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91) added 20 points. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Guaiqueries at the other side keep the third place with 15 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
