Rather predictable result in Velez-Malaga where third ranked Velez (6-4) edged 6th ranked Huelva (2-8) 60-59 on Saturday. Huelva was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 14-12 charge of Velez, which allowed them to win the game. Velez outrebounded Huelva 35-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for power forward Jose Esteba (198-80) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Rafael Pozo (175-88) helped adding 11 points and 5 assists. Velez's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Pablo Hitos (194-88) responded with 20 points and Argentinian-Italian swingman Julian Horacio Lopez (190-79) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. Velez keeps a position of Group D Clasif leader, which they share with Andujar and Badajoz. Huelva lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with eight games lost. Velez will face San Fernando (#5) on the road in the next round. Huelva will play against the league's second-placed Andujar and hope to win that game.
