Regular Season Round 23: Alcazar - La Roda 91-90

There was no surprise when 8th ranked La Roda (7-13) was edged on the road by third ranked Alcazar (14-6) 91-90 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. La Roda was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 22-18 charge of Alcazar, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 6 assists. Forward Ignacio Diaz (200-87) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds. Senegalese power forward Michel Diouf (208-90) responded with 32 points and 7 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) and American guard Stephon Carter (193-91, college: CSU Bakersfield) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Five Alcazar and four La Roda players scored in double figures. Alcazar maintains third place in Group B with 14-6 record having just eighteen point less than leader Badajoz. Newly promoted La Roda keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Alcazar will face Villarrobledo (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. La Roda will play against Estudiantes B (#11) and hope to win that game.
