Second Stage Round 7: Heffingen - Contern 69-60
Date: March 19, 2016
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when third ranked Heffingen (8-18) defeated at home their biggest opponent Contern (8-18) 69-60 on Saturday. Heffingen forced 21 Contern turnovers. It was a great evening for American forward Brad Reese (199-88, college: Texas Tech) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) helped adding 10 points and 17 rebounds. Reese is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Heffingen's coach Mark Reed used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Kenny Williams (201-86, college: Angelo St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and international point guard Raul Birenbaum (182-89) scored 15 points. Four Contern players scored in double figures. Heffingen maintains third place in League with 8-18 record having just two points less than leader Residence. Heffingen will face Grengewald (#4) in Niederanven in the next round. Contern will play at home against the league's second-placed Bascharage and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
