Regular Season Round 19: Villeneuve - Charleville-Mez. 73-77

The game between third ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (13-5) and fourth ranked Charleville-Mez. (13-5) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Villeneuve D'Ascq was defeated by Charleville-Mez. in a tough game in Villeneuve 73-77. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Villeneuve D'Ascq. Villeneuve D'Ascq was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Guard Amel Bouderra (160-89) fired 19 points and 8 assists for the winners. Belgian Kim Mestdagh (179-90, college: Colorado St., agency: LBM Management) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Charleville-Mez. players scored in double figures. American forward Megan Mahoney (183-83, college: Kansas St., agency: LBM Management) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Johanne Gomis-Halilovic (179-85, agency: Comsport) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Charleville-Mez. have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Villeneuve. Charleville-Mez. is looking forward to face league's second-placed Bourges at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play against Hainaut in Saint-Amand and is hoping to win this game.
