Regular Season Round 19: Nice - Mondeville 74-67

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Mondeville (8-11) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Nice (13-6) 74-67 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was a great evening for Mali center Djene Diawara (192-85, agency: Comsport) who led her team to a victory scoring 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American forward Courtney Hurt (185-90, college: VCU) helped adding 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Nice players scored in double figures. Nice's coach Rachid Meziane used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Canadian forward Michelle Plouffe (193-92, college: Utah) responded with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and international point guard Marine Johannes (174-95, agency: Comsport) scored 17 points. Newly promoted Nice maintains fifth place with 13-6 record. Mondeville lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. Nice will meet COB Calais (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mondeville will play against Arras (#14) and hope to secure a win.
