Regular Season Round 26: Coruna - Oviedo 76-85

The biggest surprise of round 26 was guest Oviedo CB's (15-11) road victory over Leyma Basquet (#5) 85-76 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Leyma Basquet. Leyma Basquet trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 13 after three quarters before a 20-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 76-85 at the end of the game. Oviedo CB shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 56.7 percentage. The best player for the winners was point guard Ferran Bassas (183-92) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 assists. Guard Andres Miso (198-83) chipped in 20 points. Georgian Beka Burjanadze (202-94) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Zach Monaghan (188-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Leyma Basquet players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oviedo CB moved-up to third place, which they share with Burgos. Leyma Basquet at the other side keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Penas Huesca. Oviedo CB is looking forward to face Leche Rio Breogan (#9) in Lugo in the next round where they are favorite. Leyma Basquet will play on the road against Caceres Basket (#10) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
